Qualifications. New portrait - Sept 2015

I am a trained, qualified counsellor and supervisor, a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am bound by their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. As part of this commitment I attend regular supervision of my practice and ongoing personal and professional development, undertaking further training and courses to assist my work in private practice and the voluntary sector.

I currently run a supervision group for volunteers at Star Throwers, a local cancer charity in Wymondham where I have offered counselling to patients and families for over eight years.

I have many years experience within the NHS, firstly as a nurse specialising in cancer nursing and end of life care, then in administration.

My therapeutic experience is varied and ranges from over 10 years bereavement counselling in the voluntary sector, general and mental health work and using counselling skills in nursing and end of life care.

I have previously worked for Cruse Bereavement Care as a counsellor and trainer, MIND and Doncaster Women's Centre - all in the voluntary sector. I have experience of running a counselling service and working with students and staff in Further Education as well as students in Higher Education.

I have been a writer of poetry for nearly 50 years and have a deep interest in the therapeutic benefit of writing for both mental and physical health problems as well as in general wellbeing. I offer opportunities to write, with no judgement or critiques, to individuals, groups and organisations. If to larger groups then I work closely with a writing colleague to provide this service. I offer supervision for therapist/writers working in this area. This can be in person or via Zoom.

I am a member of Lapidus International, the organisation for therapeutic writing for health and wellbeing - 'Where Words and Wellness Meet'. I abide by their ethical guidelines.
